I am so sorry to this show’s fans, but I found the entire thing corny. It’s as if the showrunners were more concerned at showing-off their animation skills and trying hard to make things look cool than telling a compelling story. For example, you know what shows like Naruto and Demon Slayer took pains to build? The lore. The Rasengan, Breathing Forms, etc. So you see the progression and how the attacks became more potent the more the hero internalizes and learns how to wield it. Here, they just create attacks from thin air–sure, it looks phenomenal, but really, it’s just eye candy, and nothing more. I didn’t feel anything when they summon it, no excitement, no anticipation. “Show, don’t tell”, ever hear of that? Well, they did show, and told me the name of the attack, but…so what? It only landed superficially. Another meh burger you throw onto the pile because not once did they attempt to connect to the viewer, assuming we’ll just jump and fist pump at the cool graphics. Not me, fam.
And then this BS finale. The entire journey was about our hero getting revenge, but look at this. A stranger appears, and it’s the final boss. No establishing background, no prep. This is cornball storytelling that doesn’t engage for long. Eventually, you just tune out, you know? Nice try, show, but nope, I feel swindled.
But again, that’s just me. You do you.
