considering all the positive comments on here guess I’m the only one who found this episode silly and shallow. Perfect world gets hate for fights after fights every ep but here I see a different response. weird

I think both renegade and record of a mortals journey are good.
record of a mortals journey just a bit better because its more realistic and traditional.
Also Renegade Immortal censors a lot (cause of Tencent), while mortals journey does not.
And the story pace and world building is way better…
RMJI is peak but in my opinion renegade immortal is better. And it still hasn’t reached its peak yet
Tbh, renegade immortal wang ling current cultivation is way more powerful than RMJI Han Li. But the sheer details of power demonstration and character development is way better in RMJI. But I won’t compare both as both of them are my number one favourite donghuas. As for perfect world, it used to be my favourite number 1 till shi hao was in lower realm. The story is too complex now to remember the past history.
This show is damn good most of the time, but dude is right that this episode in particular seemed out of place and gratuitous.
It’s not really that bad, even though there fight after fight here, atleast there progress in Wang Lin’s Cultivation and to be fair, i already stop watching perfect world😊
There just difference between each “fights after fights”, RI here do it great with the music and the fight not that dragged and honestly, it’s more to the feel bc of seeing Wang Lin’s Journey

When RI reaches the percentage of nonstop, acid tripping, pointless fights that PW seems to have been aiming for as of late at the cost of moving the plot onwards, your criticism will become valid. The OP and others are not bad mouthing RI because they like PW. I have been following both since they started. I too am just pointing out the hypocrisy I see in comments. This ep was not good but there is senseless cheerleeding in comments for it . They leave rhyme and reason behind on this one and are ready to pick other donghuas apart when they fail the audience.
I think it was ok until the city scene which was completely unneeded. He just flew to a random city to kill everyone, it did not advance the plot at all.
I think the explanation in anime is not clear. after having the fruits, he has gone completely mad and is purely acting on instincts. and he will kill anyone who has even a little killing intent towards him. the moment he senses killing intent he would go there to have a fight. Fighting with whole city pointlessly is not something a sane Wang Lin would ever do.
I understood that multiple times when they described the fruit, he goes after the devil that has way higher cultivation, and he killed that daluo guy and his army.
They wasted 5 / 16 minutes of this episode on that scene and it was completely unneccessary.

I don’t think the problem is with fights after fights, but the effort to explain the story, keeping the characters simple to remember the past story, reintroducing them for recalling purpose. Renegade immortal is doing the job pretty smoothly. But Perfect world is a chaos.
The RI apologists on here are ridiculous. They think popularity equates to quality. Just because RI is popular atm doesnt mean its serving highest quality donghua. It most certainly is not. Feels like that Shed restaurant in South London all over again- just parroting and imitating what someone started saying somehwere.

In my opinion, this episode is peak — because this is his first time being crazy, not acting crazy. The whole thing about his Dao is to defy, but also to find himself — his true Dao.
If you think about our lives, we do the same. We get sad, angry, and so on. We do grow if we really try! That is his journey! He goes through every possible change and emotion that the Heavenly Dao wants to eliminate from them! And he even finds true Dao in his crazy killing intent. He grows beyond himself through emotions! And it doesn’t stop there, because emotions without meaning are baseless! He doesn’t try to become strong at the cost of others by choice like everybody else in every series. He only becomes stronger through thoughts and emotions alone (of course training as well). Every cultivator before tries to deny their weakness and become something in a system that already exists, because they fear the Heavenly Dao. He doesn’t think that the system is his answer, so he is manifesting his answer.
If you need a reality check: you live in a system, you work in a system, and you bow down to the system, because everybody does it, right? What if I tell you that this isn’t the only path for you? Well, you would ask what path you could go, right? Well, what he is doing is one way to do it. Understand your thoughts, your emotions, don’t punish yourself for past mistakes, learn from them, grow, and become your true self!
It is hard, I know… but if you never try to truly understand yourself — why you feel something and why you act how you act — you are just a passenger in a car without a driver… with no destination ahead… an endless cycle until you change the seat and start driving that shit yourself… to wherever you like! They want us to believe that there is nothing more behind the horizon… that it is scary and lonely… but taking a look, just once? Only a peek? You can do that! There will be no Heavenly Dao striking you! Only your own mind playing you until you forget who you truly are…
