Not sure if you meant you were spoiled because you read the manwa or novel or not. Judging from the current donghua story before this episode, it looked like he was going to have to fight for her if he wanted the relationship to continue because Alice’s father basically sold her for beer money.
This episode basically reinforced Alice’s need to have a crutch to live which was shown in the religious scene. That led to their disagreement which showed that they were fundamentally different in their way of living.
Personally, I found the sculpturing scene to be really good, not because of the emotional toil Linley was under but rather because once again it showed that strong emotions can be a road block to those who are cultivating a power. After looking at the fandom page on this I am looking forward to the fallout of that statue once it becomes more public.
