Golden Curse (2026) / God of Wealth Dou Zhanlong
When Taoist Cui Laodao attempts to read the Book of Heaven, he accidentally releases a Golden Toad that gathers treasures. Fascinated by the prosperity of the human world, the Golden Toad chooses to reincarnate as a human, becoming Dou Zhanlong.
In order to evade a heavenly calamity, the Golden Toad tears apart Dou Zhanlong's three souls and seven spirits, creating nine incarnations that are scattered across different locations and parallel timelines. Whenever one Dou Zhanlong dies, another incarnation takes his place. Together, they are destined to endure the terrifying cycle known as the “Nine Deaths and Thirteen Disasters.”
The story follows the first incarnation of Dou Zhanlong as he embarks on a journey of revenge, treasure hunting, and uncovering ancient mysteries. After his sister is killed, Dou Zhanlong sets out to find the truth and destroy the enemy responsible, eventually becoming entangled in a dangerous world of folk magic, supernatural legends, hidden treasures, and mysterious creatures.
Set against the backdrop of Republic-era China, Golden Curse combines treasure-hunting adventure with Chinese folklore, dark humor, mystery, fantasy, and traditional Chinese horror.

Okay, the show isn’t bad, but it’s not showing any hype potential either. And from the looks of it, it’s not a cultivation genre. The animation is really good, story’s a lil confusing n dark. Gotta watch a couple more eps before fully concluding 🧐

look at the other one Gu An slash to the heaven. It was soooo good in first two episodes. it was dark, gritty and raw which had a complete change of theme from 3rd episode. I am really bummed about that one though
wtf is this nonsense? And whats with the camera jumping from one scene to another, from town into action, into damp caves with ugly mofos back to town, back to the forest and fighting back to dialog.

good good, a little confusing at times.
Conclusion: He’s definitely an idiot. Let’s see if he has any redeeming qualities so that he can be an endearing idiot. Otherwise, I might have to drop this. This past year, I’ve had my fill of stupidity and narcissism/hubris, both IRL and in anime.
Mc is a complete moron. Also, the story doesn’t make any sense. MC is a mortal,but what he’s fighting seems to be cultivators or atleast people with special powers. How is that even possible? It would’ve been a little bit believable if he had years of military training like the MC in ‘EVER NIGHT’. But this guy has no training, no special powers nothing. He just has webbed hands and a cursed object. I’ll give it a few more episode to settle in,but if it still keeps this idiocy going on I’ll just drop it.

I love action horror donghua . It’s a pretty good sub-genre in and of itself. I’ve only seen 3 or 4 series like this one and they were all good. This one so far has been getting better with each episode.
Still on the fence on this one. Almost feels like it is trying to hard to creepy and gory. A few more should do it
