I think the AI in A Will Eternal is a prime example of how to do it right; while that’s a 2D donghua, they haven’t overdone it and just used it to add a bit of detail, motion, and clarity to the big fight moves, but they leave the character models alone for the most part; the AI and CG is used to fill in the background or atmosphere.

Speaking of which: if the studio follows their previous release structures from S1-S3, A Will Eternal S4 should be starting this coming July or August!
S1 Released August 12 2020
S2 Released July 20 2022
S3 Released July 3 2024
S4 Released June? July? August? 2026 – they keep pushing up the release day every 2 years by 2-3 weeks, so perhaps we’ll get lucky and they’ll drop Ep 1 around June 17th or so? That would be amazing! If not, hopefully we’ll at least get it sometime in July!

I can only hope! Medusa is the best thing to come out of BTTH! Her character model blows all the rest out of the water; especially the stupid looking Gu Xun’er model (though it is way better than it used to be, thank goodness – I could only watch her former Downs Syndrome looking model for so long before wanting to beat my head against my screen for how badly the animators missed the mark on that one!). I’m still irritated that they downgraded Medusa to a platonic friend in the BTTH donghua – she deserves to be a full-fledged wifey!

Medusa is among my favorite donghua character models, right along with Xiao Bai from Jade Dynasty (9-tailed fox demon lady).

Lou Li from Great Ruler (MC’s girlfriend), Xuan Yi from BTTH (Yao Chen’s wannabe girlfriend), Qing Lin from BTTH (snake girl with the triple-jade green snake flower pupils), and Li Muwan from Renegade Immortal (MC’s wife) are pretty good too, but not quite in the same league as Medusa and Xiao Bai.

Compared to the 6 female character models I have listed, most female character models in 3D donghua are pretty, but rather generic looking overall.

Looks like MC is getting his own 7-color/9-color heaven swallowing python pet; with any luck, she’ll turn into a Medusa/Cai Lin baddie at some point!
