Yea it’s not perfect but the story is ok so it doesn’t bother me. I try to look at the positives when it feels like the studio’s heart is in the right place.

Zhen Dao Ge was an excellent series, no par with this in regards the action

A wonderful series

Did you ever watch Zhen Dao Ge? There are 2 seasons (might even be a 3rd out now?), a set of S1 specials, and a movie, but the release order is out of chronological order. If you like fighting shows like this, it’d probably be right up your alley.

Unfortunately I don’t recall the exact watch order, but I want to say it would go Movie, S1 Specials, S1, S2, (S3?) though you could skip the movie if you really want to as it just gives background on the world and some of the side-characters who show up in the series that the MC wants revenge on. You won’t miss a whole lot regarding the MC and his story if you skip the movie, but the experience will be less rich and rewarding because you won’t understand the side characters and “villains” as much.

The art style is a strange blend of 3D trying to look 2D and it’s a bit weird at first but you get used to it quickly. The fight choreography and camera angling/perspective is the best I have ever seen in an anime or donghua. It’s not really a cultivation show, though there are some minor supernatural elements in the story.
