Even though the story is similar to soul land 1, I couldn’t really compare them to each other as this donghua is inferior that one. I found myself skipping parts of the episode just to get through it as it didn’t entice me to watch it like soul land 1 does.

As for Chen Feng’s father, I don’t think him having multiple wives was an issue for Chen Fengs mother. If it was she wouldn’t have got with him in the first place when he already had a child with another woman. It may have been different if she was pressured by her family but she wasn’t.

From what I’ve been told previously, as I was doing a little research on the subject, the whole idea of marrying multiple wives in China was only really a thing for kings and not common people. That whole idea was breached twice in this story, not only with Chen Feng’s father but also Chen Feng himself when there was a private conversation between Han Yu’er confiding with another girl that she’d be ok with her marrying him too. Chen Feng walked in on them and that conversation was stopped along with the idea of him ending up with a harem. After that, Han Yu’er changed her mind on sharing him with others and showed a cold side to the mc whenever it touched upon that..
