Before I watched this episode, I was having my doubt because what transpired in the novel was too much to be fitted into one single episode. But surprisingly, it’s better than I expected. What’s even better is to see avid PW fans agreeing with me.😊
Actually, it’s more like a prophecy than a history lesson but it’s not wrong to say that they show a very important past (and present) narrative: the strength of their enemies. Those people appearing in the tribulations were the descendants of those powerhouse who almost annihilated the 9H10E. They were the ones who broke their world apart, shattering the Dao laws.
All in all, I think the Studio did a good job in this episode because they show the perils that Shi Hao has to face but more importantly, they highlight the theme of PW: he will be all alone treading on this path, fighting in his lonesome, trying to be that small sliver of hope for everyone.
All the fighting in the last 200 over episodes only show one thing: Shi Hao is always fighting for others. In his very first big fight with Shi Yi, he thought he was fighting for himself, trying to avenge his lost supreme bone but Willow Deity enlightened him that he is only starting to carve his own path (for the future of mankind).
Those who are confused will ask, why the excessive fights then? Well, it’s because he lives in a broken world. Enemies attack them constantly while clans fight among themselves, and some even betray their own people. Only through blood and sacrifice, can he protect the people and the world he lives in.

It’s been awhile and coming back to PW, this episode did not let me down. Granted, it’s still not as emotionally-driven as the previous special episode (the fight with He Wushuang) but it actually highlights an important theme, the main theme of PW: Shi Hao is a lone warrior and PW is his biography.
I’ve tried untold times to clarify and even persuade/convince those who are confused with the plot or those who keep lamenting about PW’s excessive actions and fights. But I think this episode pretty much underline why is PW so action-focused. Because Shi Hao is the variable. He is born to change the doomed future where there’s no hope. The enemies are too strong and their world being broken with incomplete Dao laws, it’s impossible to produce a strong warrior capable of fighting those foreign devils. But Shi Hao changed this because he created his own Dao path. This achievement is unprecedented. No one has managed in the past and neither will anyone in the future.
Regardless of how broken or incomplete the Dao in their world is, Shi Hao can still grow stronger and be above the nine heavens. This is what this tribulation is all about. It’s a scary prophecy. If he succeeds, he is indeed invincible and will become the shining beacon, the last hope of mankind. If he fails, the world and everyone in it will cease to exist. But the price he has to pay is too severe. He will be all alone in this long treacherous path — one person fighting for the entire humanity.
And he WILL succeed in the end!! 🔥🔥
