I had the same question when I read the novel the first time. But my subsequent re-reading actually made me realised how narrow my perspective was. Because the forest is HUGE and those “traitors” got there first, thanks to the intel from the enemies. Do you remember there’s a scene where they show a bird with eerie red eyes flying over SH? Those are spies sent out from the enemies. They are well-prepared because they have been waiting for the reappearance of the old wooden chest for ages. Of course, they didn’t take into account a variable like Shi Hao to appear.

Another reason is that, Meng Tianzheng is probably laying low due to the forest’s natural suppression of powerful individuals. The Blood Bodhi tree is just one of the examples how even supreme beings can be killed without resistance, if they were careless. Don’t forget, he’s also on the Most Wanted List, like Shi Hao.

They were kind enough to show a lot of the other characters fighting in the war, and so, I’m thankful!

Ikr, this is one of those small little initiatives from the Studio because those good guys fighting against the enemies was never mentioned in the novel. But I like it this way, that the Studio expands our overall perspectives and not restrict it to SH and the baddies only. I’d say this is one of those improvements that I can see, which gets me wondering why ppl still complain so much that the fight is trash and artificial. Really, PW is not all about fighting or non-stop actions. Sigh.. if only they take a moment to appreciate it, because there’re many of such nice lil’ gesture from the production team.

Another one of such moments is a two-second scene where SH sat near the man-eating tree with his nonchalant attitude, calling out to the enemies, or more like ahem… drag your bodies over and stick out your neck for me. The Studio doesn’t really need that scene because that narrative was already conveyed through all the guards reporting about SH’s kill count. But they still did it, not just to give us a smoother transition but also to give us a mo to appreciate Shi Hao’s aura farming.😉 Seriously, who would mind that? I definitely don’t! Lol!
