I think he definitely has other motives to be sacrificing that much for me. Yeah the way Liu Mei fights and kills, we can tell that she is selfish and evil who only cares about herself. The Wang Lin vs Liu Mei part was also very novel accurate, inclusing him seeing the illusions of Hong Die and his family and friend I guess this is a good sign, but we will know next episode for sure about Wang Ping.

Yes it was explained in the novel clearly. Wang Ping is the biological son of Wang Lin and Liu Mei, when they had sex (censored in donghua) in the Suzaku tomb after fusing with the lust domain.
After that Liu Mei got pregnant with Wang Ping. Yes that was Wang Ping inside that black fog inside Liu Mei, he reacted to Wang lin which made Liu Mei look past Xu Mu’s disguise and realize his true identity as shown todays episode. She already gave birth to him and turned him into a resentful spirit to torture and revenge on Wang Lin.
Now since the sex scene was deleted in the donghua (ep 99), I am guessing his birth will have a different explanation like He is born from the spiritual fusion of Wang Lin and Liu Mei’s origin souls/ intent domain Dao…
