Anyway, If you don’t get it, that city lord will stop at nothing to win. His pawns failed so he’s trying everything he can to steal Meng Chuan from the general. Even if he doesn’t win, he’ll at least destroy MC. That’s what he thinks.

That Yuanchu Mountain doesn’t give a shit. They only care about results. Whether the general or the city lord wins is nothing to them.

Now the best part is that no one knows the legacy/inheritance they’re all fighting for is already in MC’s hands. I’m guessing that’s not the entire thing but we’ll see. Point is, everyone in that city is a pawn that can be easily discarded.

Yuanchu Mountain’s reasoning? Demons are coming. If they don’t find other ways to create more saints, their world will be over. So they’re sacrificing a small number of people to save the rest. If saints don’t work, they’ll even resort to being demons. Anything to fight the enemy.

Bottom line? City Lord thinks creating fiends is the way while the general is advocating for body refinement. This a game of survival so don’t get attached to characters too much. Especially those around MC.
