Meng Chuan did the time reversal back then and some of the space-time energy got into her. She could foresee the future and she clearly knew she wouldn’t die. In the “original” timeline, one after another of those people were taken away from the prison and they were obviously eaten, and she was the last to be eaten. At that time, Meng Chuan appeared and coincidentally saved her. She ran away, past where Meng Chuan were fighting the demon and reached the burning tree (no idea how it ended up burning though)… In that timeline, Meng Chuan won the battle, which I have no idea how he managed to do so without any help, and he told her that he was sorry that he was late to the rescue. She decided to change the future by escaping earlier, before any victim was brought away, at the cost of her own life. Apparently other than foreseeing future, she could also project herself to the future, allowing Meng Chuan to see where she ran to.

Also I grew up reading both of these novels except for demon hunter, seeing them get a donghua and come to life is dream come true.
