Its because in the novel, girl from back in the day was actually his girlfriend but because of someone higher she was forced to betray him and block his energy so he couldn’t advance in his training and higher person could mess with him which lead to his bow being given to someone else. He does eventually meet her again and she starts apologizing, saying she was forced

yea they got married.. author chen dong (same author who wrote PW) got some twisted humor.. afterwards meng ke’er even after getting her memories back, will act differently even though not very sweet..
