I’m sorry I did not care much for this episode at all. It is so pale in comparison to the description in the novel. The only thing worthy of praise is that they made the Late Nascent Soul chase much more interesting. Other than that, they removed wayyyy too much from the Novel. I am not against refining source material, but when you cut away so much that the finished product loses the intent and spirit of the original author, now that is a problem. (BTW, why do some character voices sound low and strange, like they are using AI?)
Here is a rundown of things that were changed or outright omitted from today’s episode:
They removed the part where Han Li uses the Yin Devil Execution Art against the Mulan Saintess (This is forgivable cuz she blocks it and it doesn’t change much of the story, but it would have been cool to witness)We don’t see Han Li use the Silver Chime Bell to impede the Saintess’ movement, and the way they make Han Li throw that 1000 Fold Mountain was just so lazy(expressionless https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f611.svg ) for such a powerful ancient treasure; he doesn’t wield it or utilise it as properly as was described in the books. (They can do better)They completely forgot to add the scene where Silvermoon uses the Purple Cloudlace to restrict the Saintess effectively. In fact, she was supposed to go a step further and use the secondary attack power of the artefact, which is the ‘Purple Cloudlace True Jade Fire’. Once again, they underutilise Silvermoon when we could have seen a glimpse of her true nature, AND don’t get me started with that truly boring way she used the ancient flower basket to capture the so-called ‘greatest’ Mulan treasure. I expected some kind of minimal struggle by the treasure in the exciting way they have always portrayed the flower basket capturing other itemsNow this one is absolutely unforgivable: We don’t get to see the destruction of the Silver Chime Bell…WTFFFF???. I think they just hate that treasure for no particular reason. First, they failed to introduce it properly in Han Li’s fight against Wen Tianren when it first appeared in the Novel. Now they can’t even give it A PROPER BURIAL. Yes, in the novel, the Bell is absolutely destroyed by the flames from the Mulan Ancient Lantern. The bell literally melts; that’s why the Saintess tells Han Li that he would lose his Life-bound Treasure too. This helps show the power of the flames from the Lantern, and they just did not show it. SHAME.IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. They absolutely nerfed the Apex Purple Flames FFS. In the Novel, Han li first combines the celestial blue ice flames with his sword to attack the Ancient Lantern Flames, but he underestimates the flame’s power; the flame sets his giant sword ablaze literally, and for a sec he thought it would get destroyed like his silver chime bell. Then he introduces the Apex Purple flames, which take the form of a bird and strike his own sword, and then begin to battle the Ancient lantern flames. I really waited so long to see the stunning visuals they would cook up for having a standoff between two powerful flames on a burning giant sword, only to be disappointed by the changes they made. WHY CHANGE STUFF FROM THE NOVEL IF YOU AREN’T GONNA MAKE IT BETTER? GOOD LORD.

In the end, the alliance inflicted heavy casualties on the Moulan, but they still lost the fortress. For the Moulan, this was very much a Pyrrhic victory. They got bits of land they wanted, but their ability to continue the campaign has suffered (I’m guessing).
The whole war just became incredibly stupid. The saintess is one thing, strong but managable, but the other guy who showed up? He could’ve single-handedly swept away the entire fortification with everyone in it, netting zero losses for the Mulan, meaning all the Mulan losses that were, are, and will be in the future, are completely pointless. At this point, people only as strong as Han Li currently is, are completely useless because they can’t possibly kill someone this strong even if they gang up on them. If the Alliance can field someone strong enough to defeat him, they win. If they can’t, Mulan wins. This also means that no land was really “lost” because one dude this strong can just pop up and delete all fortifications and occupants of the land. Frankly this guy’s insertion was really disappointing.
THIS IS WHY JUST HAVING POWER IS NOT ENOUGH. IF YOU ARE NOT THE MOST POWERFUL WIELDING TRUE POWER NOT POWER ON PAPER, THEN THAT POWER IS NOT WORTH HAVING, IT IS JUST GOING TO ATTRACT PROBLEMS FOR YOU AND IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH TO TRULY PROTECT THE ONES YOU LOVE.
Why have episodes been getting the end cut off? Whoever’s editing them needs to stop.

And one thing about these stories bothers me is that, why don’t they put the treasures they snatch from others directly into their space ring? They just grab it with their hand and run like m0r0ns. The part i agree with is the Fox could have entered the storage pouch after taking the Lantern BUT that part of being weak he was fighting a middle stage nascent soul and the Lanterns power is not well potrayed because it is the Moulans greatest treasure and we will later see its power in another battle in the coming episodes. Remember Nascent soul who absorbed souls in the Novel Han li beat him quickly.

Firstly the great sage wasn’t supposed to show even the saintess was surprised to see him appear but that does not excuse the higher ups from not being in the front lines. but this battle was to showcase his power going toe to toe with a middle nascent soul having just broken through to nascent and make others acknowledge him for escaping a late nascent soul. Also if the higher were there Han li would not engage in battle without gain. Should also note that they were to hold on for one month I assume it was to wait until that vessel deployed or Wei Wuya returns from what he was doing coz it was hinted to be important by the deputy alliance leader.

Good old boring Han Li bites more than he can chew, what was he thinking taking on an alliance of kingdom leaders? It’s very uncharacteristic, usually he’s more like a turtle or a possum, play dead and hope others forget he’s there. This is one of the best donghuas, the animation is outstanding, but this guy can thank his progress to luck and a low profile.
He ain’t that good looking either, just an average guy with the aura of the powerful that makes people perceive him as more attractive than he is. Whoever compared him to the handsome boss in Perfect World needs glasses.
I also expected more from the fox girl, from the readers excitement when she first appeared, but so far she’s been more of a prop, like a magician’s pretty assistant. It’s great seeing again in woman form, she looks so much better!
Aside from that the story has loads of epic moments and I’ll keep watching with interest. It’s definitely on my top 5: pretty good but not the best so deal with it. 😜 Renegade Immortal beats it with a hand is behind his back.
