Even the screen writers change a lot of things in the donghua, instead of following the novel. The make sure to include some logicin the narritive. Here the plot, the way is written doesn’t make it possible for it to a be prequel.
Even the immortals that his clones met again, he saw them the first time when he had the vision of how they were going to die, plot wise they are not from the same era as Liu Shen.
They are from the Chaos Ancient Era (Luan Gu Era), which is the era after Liu Shen’s time.

The new Perfect World movie is doing the exact same thing. Just because it steals lore concepts like the “drop of blood memory” from the novel doesn’t mean the movie’s specific events are canon.

So what I understood from this movie is that this was a closed loop event. In the end Huang deduced that even if he didn’t interfere, the Immortal Kings plus Liu Shen could have still managed to forge a way ahead for the next era.
At the same time it has a lil karmic connection to Huang’s early beggings in the stone village. Very complicated.
The only thing you must know is that it’s not canon, it’s a stand alone movie set in the universe of the donghua but not in the same timeline.

I think he realized there’s nothing he would have done to change it and probably changed his mind/ignored it.

I strongly believe that was Huang closing that “mistake” timeline himself to avoid major catastrophe later on.

Aside from the weak direction, it was pretty good overall. The plot adaptation was solid, and the start and end flowed well. The causal loop closed at the end with one message: time can’t be reversed, the future is set. Whether Shi Hao returned to the Immortal Ancient Era or not, the future was already decided. All he left behind was proof that he fought with the heroes of that era. Не used a drop of his blood to reverse time and enter the loop, but was blocked by the Corpse Immortal Emperor. Because of that, Kun Di even reached half-step Quasi-Emperor something he never did in the original timeline. In the end he was still crushed by the future Desolate Heavenly Emperor, completing the loop. Plot is good, but the direction really hurt it. Music, story, and VFX were top tier. The team needs to fix the direction ASAP.

Well I think the direction was pretty solid cause it’s as you said , at the end of the movie shi hao realized that he couldn’t change what happened in the past at his current stage and without him Liu shen and the others would have also given the Future a chance to survive and them dieing in the process ..
So it’s literally summed up the plot and the proof is that he came to fight and help them , I don’t actually think Kun Di entered Quasi immortal emperor realm … Wasn’t he like in the process of achieving it before his Dao collapsed?

I shed a tear a little, honestly studio has the perfect chance to milk this shi. When Huang’s blood was scattered throughout time, studio can make make movies like that of the half immortal emperor who left footprints and so on.
Since we are at the final chapters, I hope they are well adapted since those final 400 chapters are my favorite.
Anyway great movie, I teared up a bit and can’t wait to see Huang slaughter those foreign realm dogs Anlan and Kundi and the other dogs. PS, Immortal Domain kings are trash
