While travelling he was learning patterns or engraving on wings، star tower and the crazy/mad armor. This technique is after learning 3 levels of engraving from the Crazy Devil Extermination Godly Armor. You can see a glimpse few episodes back before he reaches black pillars.They talk about it in detail in novel about these things.
