Was season one good? I never heard of this one.
I liked it. It’s a harsher story in a male world, there won’t be much romance and fluffy stuff. But I like historical settings, traditional, folklore, mythology and that kind of stuff, idk if you do too.
The fact that RI and BTG are some of my favorites should tell you I love angst, gore, and doomed shit, And pretty tired of romance, but mainly herems.
Did you ever watch Zhen Dao Ge? There are 2 seasons (might even be a 3rd out now?), a set of S1 specials, and a movie, but the release order is out of chronological order. If you like fighting shows like this, it’d probably be right up your alley.
Unfortunately I don’t recall the exact watch order, but I want to say it would go Movie, S1 Specials, S1, S2, (S3?) though you could skip the movie if you really want to as it just gives background on the world and some of the side-characters who show up in the series that the MC wants revenge on. You won’t miss a whole lot regarding the MC and his story if you skip the movie, but the experience will be less rich and rewarding because you won’t understand the side characters and “villains” as much.
The art style is a strange blend of 3D trying to look 2D and it’s a bit weird at first but you get used to it quickly. The fight choreography and camera angling/perspective is the best I have ever seen in an anime or donghua. It’s not really a cultivation show, though there are some minor supernatural elements in the story.
Zhen Dao Ge was an excellent series, no par with this in regards the action

Does it have the same name, and on what platform can I watch? I’m not really big on live-actions.
I loved Season 1, but they ruined it will all this CG crap and assembly line animation; S1 was great in part because of the amazing hand drawing that caused it to take like 3-4 years to be made (plus the story and action are great; no cultivation, just fighting); I can see brief scenes here and there in S2 that were hand drawn, but they are few and far between and a bit cruder.

Damn I hate Emperors. They suck your dry of meat, blood and marrow and throw away the carcass amd you’re supposed to be grateful for the dubious honour. “Unification”? More like having everyone necks under their boot.
The first had amazing art/animation; seems like the went the cheap and quick route for S2, which is highly disappointing.

That’s the art style, it’s more like a watercolour sketch.
Tbf there also seems to be significant codec/bitrate issue since I see several pixelated artefacts here and there despite maxing the resolution
the animation in S1 was beautiful; in S2 it looks generic AF

Animation took a nose-dive from S1; it’s almost all CG and generic 2D now; very little of the hand-drawn awesomeness from S1

Way to take a series known for its beautiful hand-drawn animations and turn it into CG, AI. and generic 2D studio adulterated slop! I’m glad the series got a continuation, but I would have been happy to wait another 3-4 years to keep the quality of the first season instead of getting this garbage! I can probably count on one hand the number of hand drawn frames in this episode – they knew that this was BS as well, because the previews mostly showcased hand-drawn scenes and they barely had any of this CG/AI/Generic 2D trash in it; I’d wager they knew it was going to make a certain number of people mad who loved the art style of S1.
Anyhoo, thanks for the subs, Xin! It’s not your fault the studio decided to chase the quick money and gave up on their quality and art style (or was it a different studio entirely? I’ll have to look into that…).
