It really feels lame. Not sure if you had watched soul land 1. If you disregard SL1, this one is an ok watch on its own but it comes with the baggage of SL 1 which was quite a good one hence fans like myself had a hardtime coping with the drop in quality. The characters and their camaraderie just don’t hit like it did with SL 1

On it’s own the show is fine, the problem is that as a sequel it has to be compared to SL1. People loved SL1, the hype towards the end was crazy. People are naturally going to be more upset when a beloved series disappoints vs something they weren’t already invested in. As a general watcher of anime I’d put SL2 at around 6.5/10, compared to the average donghua it’s like 8/10, but as a fan of SL1 this hits more like a 4/10 in comparison. Meanwhile SL1 was more like a 9/10 in general and is easily a contender for the best donghua ever despite it’s early episodes being rough in terms of budget.

The rest of this authors works, sl2, throne of seal, etc seems like it was made for 6 yr old kids, with cringe UwU moments /poses.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Not long ago (A handful of Ep’s back) he killed his own father to steal the throne. It was after Shrek blew up half of the capital city and the prince used their attack to cover up his murder. And we know he’s crazy enough to allow the new crown prince JuZi and Huo Yuhuo son to die.
