This was a good run for a 2nd season, so I definitely can’t wait what they have in store for us in the next season bro. 💪💪💪 I hope they don’t give him another rough time but I’m doubting it since every revolves around him lmao. 😅😅😅
Fam, don’t forget that there is also a movie that is coming out in 2027 for this donghua.
Title: Sword, Coming!: The Battle of Thirteen (Jian Lai: The Battle of Thirteen)
Setting: The film’s plot expands on the lore of the donghua by focusing on the legendary Sword Qi Great Wall.
Yeah, I can’t wait for the movies as well they are like a good addition. 💪💪💪
OH MY FUCKING GOSH, FINALLY THIS EPISODE HAS BEEN TRANSLATED ON THIS SITE SO I CAN RANT!!!!!!! I FUCKING HATE THIS EPISODE BEING HERE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING MUCH BECAUSE THIS EVENT HAPPEN THIS EARLY IS COMPLETELY FUCKING UP THE STORY. I DIDN’T EVEN WATCH ANYMORE EPISODES ON OTHER SITES UNTIL THIS ONE WAS TRANSLATED HERE SO I CAN GET THIS OF CHEST. THIS EP BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE LAST MONTH EVERYWHERE ELSE, AFTER THIS I’LL KEEP WATCHING!
After how slow the donghua has been adapting THIS shit, I caved and found the chapters online and used an AI reader to listen to them in audiobook form and man it was so peak, listening to how strong he gets and how much more confident he gets around women but still only have eyes for Ning Yao and a bunch try to get him roped into some…BUuuuuuuLLSHIT let me tell ya. The events of this episode being this early is so fucked up because after he gets to the SwordQiGreatWall, a sword immortal gives him directions and a method to find a way to rebuild his bridge of immortality and he goes on a long arse solo journey, won’t spoil what happens but its extremely fun, gets the mojarity of his swordsmanshipp experience on this trip and after he’s given the method to rebuild his bridge, there are a efw things that set him up down the road to start building a sect, one of those things is that he get a group of followers who are now going back home with him.
In one of the nations he passes through, he meets a family, does something for them and the oldest son is working with Li Baozhen to do *something* in that nation on behalf of the Great Li empire directed by Cui Chan. But this whole time Li Baozhen has been trying to find ways to kill Chen Ping An and finally the day before Chen Ping An is going to continue his journey home again Li Baozhen knows they’re in the same city right now and wants to roll up on Ping An. The night before he left, Chen Ping An is walking the streets with one of his subordinates and they are on a path right next to a river running through the city and Li Baozhen, the oldest son of that family and this general he travelling with as his body guard are parked in the carriage on the side of the path because Baozhen wants to take another shot and in person this time. At first, it seems like Baozhen wants his bodyguard to do the deed but Ping An guy I think is 1 level of martial arts above him so they start fighting and it now between Ping An and Baozhen, oldest son guy is till in the carriage by the way.
Now this confrontation is significant because Chen Ping An is much more powerful at this point and has done legit scary shit to his enemies in the past, Li Baozhen starts saying that “ah, you’re a powerful martial artist now and I’m just a scholar are you really gonna use your strength against me” while still wanting to kill him and pulls out the talisman that he uses in this episode and trys to summon the big ass puppet to kill Chen Ping An but Ping An uses 1 flying sword to pin the talisman to the carriage. Before the fight starts the oldest son guy in the cart wants to try and get out and its implied he wants play mediator between them but Ping An sends another one of his flying swords right to his face essentially telling him “you stay right there, ain’t no mo’ talkin with this guy” remember he’s met this guy and his whole family and done them a favour. And at this point in the confrontation Li Baozhen can’t do shit, he pulled out the trump card and it got stuffed and its either he has no cultivation or its really low compared to Ping An, so he proceeds to beat the holy dogshit out of Baozhen and the events follow as in the episode, after beating his shit in, he grabs dirt, stuffs it in his mouth and says “I can’t feed you shit right now, but I can feed you dirt” and football kicks him down the street. This whole time Ping An’s martial artist follow is holding back Baozhen’s bodyguard and he loves to fight so he don’t care how bloody he’s getting, the bodyguard is in a much worse state but is ready to sacrifice himself to kill Ping An’s guy but is also begging Ping An to stop.
At this point, Ping An walks upto Baozhen, laid out on the street and finally says “the only reason you’re not dead is for the sake of your sister and your brother asked me to give you one chance if I meet you, this is your one chance” and then he kicks him into the river next to the road, pauses for moment and says “now you can save your master” and starts walking back to their accomodation and his guard follows suit. Li Baozhen’s guard dives in to fish him out and Baozhen as he coming out the water starts trying berate Ping An and is also throughing some stuff related their families histories and why he’s been an arsehole this whole time but Ping An ignores and goes back home.
The reason this event being in season three of this show is so FUCKIN SCUFFED is because Ping An and Baozhen in the novel don’t meet until Ping An is quite a bit more powerful and Baozhen has much more about Chen Ping An to be embarassed and bitter and jealous and angry about and its just that more cathartic when Chen Ping An gives him the business so thoroughly and he really humiliates him and Li Baozhen can now mald that the most unfortunate person in their town beat the everloving dogshit into and out of him and also he’s up now. And to add insult to injury, the powerful ass talisman he never got to use, Chen Ping An takes and then uses it on a semi regular basis in story arcs after this and he even sends some money to their family as wordless gesture to say “yeah, I beat this nigga’s ass to get this but let’s just treat it like a business transaction” which leads to other shit down the line!!!!! OH MY GOSH WHY THE FUCK DID THEY PUT THIS SHIT HERE, when he has barely gotten any stronger and has to struggle to fight this guy whose pretty weak physical and cultivation wise. Man I hate this shit so much, based on how much of a slow burn the donghua is and its actually slower than the novel in terms of pacing even though they adapt multiple chapters to one episode, if they did this shit in order, this event may not have happened until maybe season 5 or 6 but now they’ve put this shit so early what are they gonna do when this moment was supposed to come at the time when the donghua get to that arc. Man I say they really fucked the dog with this decision im so fuckin pissed they did this. I chalk this up to this studio’s tendency to want to make shit much bigger than it is in the novel for no fucking REASON, like the fight of Li Xishen and Cao Jun, in the novel their fight was strictly restricted to the alley and no pocket fuckin dimensions got opened up just for their fight, they were both lvl 7 of qi refining, they can do shit like that and same goes for the situation between Xu Rou, the heavenly lord and Cao Jun’s ancestor or grandpa or whatever, their disagreement never escalated as far as it did in the donghua and something are not depicted anywhere near accurate like thew fox that follows Cao Jun and his elder, whenever they attack her and she dissapates and then comes back, in the novel its much more gruesome. What they do is throw sword qi at her and she gets cut in half and then another time she get cut to pieces and then reforms and then another time ELDER Cao dices her up then dices those pieces, lets her reform, dices her up again, she reforms and then does like three more times before chilling out.
Man as cool as this donghua is the are fuckin up major with the story but I’ll keep watching until something irredeemable happens
RANT OVER!
Dam. As a novel-reader, valid rant 👍
As a reader of the novel, in my opinion (compared to Way of Choice, where they messed up), the changes they’ve made are legitimate and even very sensible. They make the story more linear, accessible, and above all, understandable. In the novel, many things are explained in detail only 100, 200, or even more than 400 chapters later, which can be inconvenient for a donghua with a serialization period of 2-3 years.
Compared to the novel (where you have to wait more than 800 chapters to understand the true perpetrators behind the plot to kill Qi Jingchun), here the character of Kou Ming is explained thoroughly. Then, the sentence Cui Chan says to Chen Ping’an on the stairs is explained very well. This is because they deliberately anticipated the conversation between Lu Chen and He Xiaoliang, also briefly explaining the figure of Zou Zi, a cultivator from the 14th realm, of which the protagonist is not yet aware, and this is important for the next season. Even the 27th episode “technically shouldn’t exist” because in the novel it simply says that Cui Grandpa took a step back when he saw the 10 martial artists, thus giving up on reaching the 11th realm. Here, however, they showed a nice fight between him and Lu Chen and also explained why he chose to take that step back, something that in the novel is only understood later (towards the end). They also even showed the ancestor of the military strategists Jiang She, who is the only martial artist in the 11th realm.
As I already wrote in a previous comment, I think they chose to bring forward the confrontation between Chen Ping’an and Lì Baozhen to give the MC a small moment of satisfaction because in these first two seasons he practically doesn’t do anything significant, and the fact that they brought it forward doesn’t change much for the plot. The first two seasons are a long introduction (almost 200 chapters) because the story begins in the third season. In my opinion, the first season wasn’t appreciated by many precisely because it’s rightly difficult to fully understand, so the authors wanted to “spice up” the second season by accentuating and exaggerating the fights. Furthermore, in this episode, the fight between Xie Shi and the others is just a prediction; nothing actually happens in the end.
If we really have to stick to the novel, the upcoming Jian Lai film shouldn’t even exist because in the novel, the events of the film are narrated by Wei Bo (in ep 24), and then throughout the novel, some sporadic information is added about what happened, but still not enough to make a 1 hour and 30 minute film. I think the reason they’re making the film is to explain some of the lore surrounding the Great Wall of the Qi Sword (which is explained in the novel around chapter 700/800, the narrative arc where the adult protagonist wears that red robe) but above all to attract an audience through the figure of A Liang (who, despite not appearing often, is one of the characters we immediately grew fond of) who in this novel is the character who embodies the typical “jianghu” more than anyone else.
Wei bo story is at ep 21* sorry
thankyou veery much for the info fam, really appretiated
Like yourself as a novel reader, I do not mind some changes if they enhance the storyline and do not impede its overall narrative. Bringing the fight forward is not really do anything to damage the timeline. Agreed with A’ Liang, he is such a character that we enjoy every little tidbit the author has thrown our way while reading. As for the Great Wall it will interesting to see how he plays into its back story since he was such a formidable part of it at one point.
But it kinda does because there are a few people present at the time in the novel that can not possibly be here at this point and in the novel, Ping An takes his puppet talisman for himself which leads to story implications in the future. And at a basic level it changes the fight from being the absolute pub stomp domination that it is, where Ping An shows how far he’s come in his abilities to just Chen Ping An’s first real win after gaining some new tools and leveling up in his martial arts after some horrifically hard beatings
It’s true that by anticipating the meeting between Li Baozhen and Chen Ping’an things change, but they are not very relevant also because that talisman he takes from Li Baozhen (by the way, Chen Ping’an takes it in this ep) does not have a “very great utility” because he uses it mainly in a specific narrative arc (Shujian Lake) but as Cui Cheng will tell him, if “that cultivator” from the 11th realm (Liu Laocheng) had really wanted him dead, all those external objects would not have changed anything at all.
As for (Liu Qingshan) “the guy” who is supposed to be with Li Baozhen and the bodyguard in the carriage, in the novel Chen Ping’an meets him anyway before running into Li Baozhen (I’m referring to when “this guy” deliberately sends the carriage off the road to avoid running over Pei Quan) and Chen Ping’an will have the chance to come back and talk to Li Baoping and his family about this only after all these events, so in fact nothing changes practically (they simply deleted the fight between the bodyguard and Zhu Lian). It is true that when he meets Li Baozhen Chen Ping’an shows overwhelming strength but Li Baozhen makes Li Baozhen feel pathetic but he is an ordinary mortal and so it really doesn’t change anything.
Oooo~ 👍
Okay I gave you the grace to read everything you wrote before I made a reply but even before halfway reading, I see you mentioned a bunch of stuff that I wasn’t talking about. All of the extra explanations of Lu Chen and Cui Cheng and I know why he gave up his chance for the 11 realm and every other thing you mentioned. Yes, all that info was needed to more easily understand going into season 3 and I, myself was quite frustrated with a bunch of things that only get explained waaaaaaay down the line and now I’m up to date on the novel on Wuxiaworld and it’s still not been explained who and why people keep fucking Ping An and I’m still unclear about the tanghulu sellar who almost fucked up Ping An’s life, if you explain who he’s supposed to be, pls tell me. And even in the case of the duels between the swordsmen and the demons movie, yeah, there is not a lot mentioned about it but it is mentioned constantly so imagination can be used and its implied that a bunch of people hate Ning Yao’s parents because they were among the people who lost for the human side and red robe time is far in the future for Chen Ping An when he finally has big sister Sword Spirit and she said it would take 60 years to finish sharpening the sword so thats hella far away
If you have the time to read again, coz I know what I wrote is looooooong, my MAIN, PRIMARY, BURNING point was strictly about Chen Ping An and Li Baozhen and how it does change the story and in a way, break the story because when this happens in the novel, I’m pretty sure because it ain’t no face to face shit for a long time Baozhen takes the opportunity to send more attempts at Ping An and there’s even a festival that he’s at with Qingshan(remind of his family name if you remember) and they are discussing different things and it comes up that Li Baozhen is still trying to get Ping An merc’d. So finally when they met, THIS! is Chen Ping An’s moment to get his getback and really deliver the punishment while honoring the promise to Li Xisheng and give Baozhen that one chance to live and at that time Ping An had Zhu Lian with him and Li Baozhen had Qingshan with him and he DOMINATED the situation AND A STORY DETAIL that leads to more plot points is that Ping An uses one of his flying swords to pin the talisman before he can even use it which leads to him taking it and using it in the future multiple times and him paying the Li family with a bunch of immortal currency to keep the talisman. This specifically is why I’m so fucking mad, all the other things that “I” specifically brought in my rant are all side pet peeves but the Li Baozhen issue actually fucks with order of the story
Regarding the “extra stuff” I mentioned, I was making a general point about the fact that if we absolutely must stick strictly to the events of the novel, then it should be said that the authors have made much more significant changes than just bringing forward the meeting between Li Baozhen and Chen Ping’an (because I really don’t think it changes much for the plot, that’s my opinion).
Regarding the first part of the comment, I understand that you haven’t read the entire novel and rightly so, you didn’t understand some things.
The reason Cui Cheng gave up on reaching the Eleventh Martial Arts Realm is mainly related to what Cui Chan says to Cui Dongshan towards the end of episode 27. However, here in the novel it is only said that “some people behind the scenes would have created problems” but it is not clear what and who it refers to at least until 800 chapters or more because all this is linked to what happened 10,000 years before the events of the story, to the time that old Yang talks about to Chen Ping’an [S2 Ep24 min 17:30], to the reason why the sword cultivators are mainly found near the great wall of the sword Qi and the demons on the other side, and in particular to that imposing figure seen in ep 27 who is the ancestor of the military strategists Jiang She (who is mentioned by Lu Chen during the fight). In short, it’s not so much about protecting the protagonist but about a much bigger picture, about the unjust decisions, that were made for good, following the events that happened 10,000 years ago, decisions that made “It seems, we are all disappointed with this world” [a phrase Qi Jingchun says in the first season], and the mystery and truth that lie behind the martial arts path that many characters snub but which in reality is the legitimate one, not Qi cultivation.
Regarding the events of the movie, Ning Yao’s parents weren’t the only ones to lose, and people don’t harbor “hate” towards them also because there are two truths behind these 6 defeats: the first is the fact that, as Wei Bo tells it, they relied on divination to deduce the order of the demons’ deployment, and divination uses the position of the stars as a reference but what would happen if someone deliberately moved them? The second is the fact that if the demons had actually taken these 13 battles into consideration then they would have won and the proof is found in the walls in the very first minutes of the first episode of the first season however (if I remember correctly) I think the novel says that this is due to the fact that the “main antagonist” didn’t want the demons to win at that moment.
Okay so it was an unjust decision that lead to the path of martial arts being blocked and somebody messed with the position of stars to throw of the divination but there are so many people that keep going to spit on the replicas of Ning Yao’s parents’ swords. And is the giant gap in wall the proof you are talking about?
The people who spit on Ning Yao’s parents’ swords, rather than hate them, I’d simply call them stupid. I don’t know how far you’ve read the novel, but when the protagonist returns to the Great Wall of Qi Sword for the second time, you’ll be able to understand the atmosphere and the way of life of that place. Yes, I’m talking about the fact that there’s a hole in the walls.
Regarding Zou Zi,
–Chen Ping’an’s mentality at the moment is more Buddhist than Confucian or Taoist, and this can also be seen from the very few principles he expounds throughout this second season: [S2 EP3 min12:26] “seek nothing outside yourself”, of the four phrases found on the Crab Archway in his hometown [S1 EP24 min5:35], this is the only phrase that Chen Ping’an feels is his own and is able to put into practice, and it is also the phrase he says to the white python, which he then kills, wasting one of the three sword Qi when he could have avoided it by asking A Liang for help. This is because Chen Ping’an has always been reluctant to ask for help for himself and never does so if he can manage on his own. Furthermore, this phrase is similar to the principle that Chen Ping’an currently knows and holds dear, taught to him by Old Yao (the master in charge of the porcelain kiln where Chen Ping’an worked as a child), which is “if it’s yours, hold on to it firmly; if it isn’t, don’t dwell on it.” [S2 EP14 min25] and [S2 EP20 min23:35] This phrase harks back to Buddhism, which advises that to find peace, one should release one’s mental grip on things one cannot control or that do not truly belong to one (don’t dwell on it), while fully appreciating the present moment (hold on to it firmly). In fact, Chen Ping’an is stingy with the wealth he possesses, but lacks the greed typical of cultivators when they look for opportunities. Indeed, he will lose many of them, but he will never be discouraged by that. All this is due to this Master Yao, whose true identity is that of the Medicine Buddha.
-However, Chen Ping’an also possesses that “tranquility” [Jing (精), S1 EP24 min4:38] typical of Taoism, sincerity and uprightness that focuses on examining one’s own conscience. You entrust him with a task, however difficult it may be, even if you know he ultimately won’t succeed, no matter how hard he tries, you are still absolutely certain that, if he accepts, he will complete it. Even if he can’t do it with all his strength, he is willing to grit his teeth and give it his all. This is one of the main reasons why Qi Jingchun chose him.
-However, a Confucian teacher, the Sage of Literature, was chosen for Chen Ping’an, and although he has refused for the moment, Chen Ping’an feels that his teachings are the best and feels deeply connected to the theory of sequential order developed by Master Wensheng. Furthermore, Chen Ping’an has excellent literary talent, good potential to become a scholar, and He has an attitude inclined towards Confucianism.
OH THAT’S WHY, HE’S SO weary of him, he’s worried about what would happen if the world was to return all of the kindness he has shown them, but at that moment he would no longer be that endlessly kind person and He would also be the in the category of qi refiners blessed by the ones above to have highest destructive power of all cultivators, so it was just a test but by going through the test and getting the result he did, Chen Ping An BECAME the kind of person Zou Zi would worry about. NOW I GET IT, I would not have been able to figure that out myself. And the path of martial arts having been “TURNED INTO” a dead end but actually being legit, I am aware, I’ve reached the chapters where Chen Ping An is back at the sword wall so a few things you mentioned I have gotten but Qi Jingchun starting
And also the martial arts being in the state that it is reminds me of body refining in the demon hunter with SHA QI and that technically its not a dead end and actually legitamate, its just that the human body by itself is strong enough to handle the poisonous effects of SHA QI with out some form of modification, whether be starry sky stone or becoming a saint
By “legitimate,” I mean that initially there were deities and the ancient path (which is none other than the path of martial arts). Then these deities created human beings as puppets, as resources to nourish their golden bodies through incense offerings. Then, human beings rebelled against the deities and created their own cultivation path, namely Qi cultivation. Qi cultivation allows one to transcend the limitations of the human being, but those who can achieve perfection, a state of absence of errors, are not Qi cultivators but the deities.
Qi Jingchun was pursuing the unity of the three religions as the 14th realm of Dao integration, but he decided to sacrifice himself for the people of Lizhu Grotto-Heaven. Qi Jingchun initially wanted to save as many people as possible and then leave that place, because, as stated three times in the first season (Qi Jingchun tells him twice, and the MC is reminded of this a third time when he goes to Mr. Qi’s academy for help), “a gentleman doesn’t sacrifice himself to save others.” However, Chen Ping’an ultimately didn’t listen to him, and Qi Jingchun, pushed by Chen Ping’an (which is why Chen Ping’an feels guilty when he find out the truth, despite Qi Jingchun’s telling him “even a good man can be deceived by his principles”), chose to make the decision to die for the sake of those people. However, although Qi Jingchun ultimately chose Li Baoping as his sole direct disciple and Chen Ping’an as his younger brother, (from what I understand) Qi Jingchun decided to leave Chen Ping’an the task of demonstrating the unity of the three religions. (The fact that Qi Jingchun orchestrated a conflict regarding the three religions in Chen Ping’an is mentioned during a conversation between the MC and Cui Dongshan. I don’t remember the exact chapter, I think it was about four/five chapters before he goes the second time to find Ning Yao at the Great Wall of the Qi Sword.)
When Zou Zi says that Chen Ping’an lets go when he rightes grudges but doesn’t let go when he lets Gu Can go, he’s referring to what happens at Shujian Lake but more specifically to the conversation between Chen Ping’an and Master Houlong (his friend Zhang Shanfeng’s master). In that conversation (I really urge you to reread it because I think it’s one of the most important moments of growth of the MC), Chen Ping’an admits his selfishness, admits that as a child he initially helped people because doing so served as a talisman that safeguarded his precarious situation, only later did it become a habit (that’s why in the first season, during their fight, Ma Kuxuan tells him that they were the same, good at pretending), admits that Gu Can should have died and therefore admits why he failed to pass the so-called test of the heart that Cui Chan orchestrated for him. Gu Can had to die for everything he did, that’s an undeniable truth. Chen Ping’an, however, did not kill him and tried his best to find principles that would justify him to not kill his friend, to try to “remedy” the situation by trying to change the petty habits of that place, recovering the souls of the dead by helping them fulfill their last wishes and bringing them back into the cycle of reincarnation—in short, trying to escape from that undeniable truth. However, the more he “runs away,” the more guilty he feels, precisely because the MC is truly a good person. When Chen Ping’an returns home, Cui Cheng tells him, “Whether it’s difficult or not, how you view Gu Can is what matters. I’m questioning your conscience! Does reason really distinguish between close and distant relatives? If you don’t kill Gu Can today, what will you do, Chen Ping’an, if Pei Qian, Zhu Lian, Zheng Dafeng, Li Baoping, and Li Huai of the Academy, or even if I, Cui Cheng, were to commit violence and evil in the future?” And then he tells him, “You’re like a small child carrying a large basket; you won’t amount to anything.” This is precisely where he hits the nail on the head: learning a principle and putting it into practice means that if the situation gets complicated, you’re likely to choose to abandon that principle. But learning a principle and integrating it into your lifestyle means truly assimilating it, and it’s difficult to abandon it (during the Shujian Lake story arc, Old Yang talks about this very thing with Zheng Dafeng). Up until that point, Chen Ping’an had limited himself to “collecting” other people’s principles without ever fully understanding them and truly integrating them into his own lifestyle. In fact, he doesn’t understand that many of the choices he’s made are made according to his heart and have nothing to do with the principles he professes. Even though they may sometimes coincide, they don’t determine his actions.
What Zou Zi fears is precisely this “selfishness” related to Chen Ping’an’s good nature, related to this incessant search for a clear and peaceful conscience by Chen Ping’an, related to the fact that Chen Ping’an obtained that sword but, above all, related to the fact that the MC was decreed by Old Yang as the “winner” of the birth porcelain game (because it’s not simply a way to attract opportunities).
I don’t understand what you mean when you say “everybody else wants a piece of Ping’an as well?”
oh,so they did change a lot,i like the disrespect in the novel much better than in the donghua, but oh well, there are going to be a lot more aura moments,so no worries
I too much prefer the disrespect from the novel because Li Baozhen couldn’t do anything to stop him and even had someone to stop his bodyguard from saving him until Chen Ping An said it was okay
The second season of Sword of Coming concluded on April 25, 2026, with a surprise early release of its final seven episodes. I don’t know why the admin not yet posted!! its available on other sites.
sooo you saying the last episode is out there?
yes,it is out there, our xin fam is just taking his time
Just like they did with ‘ Stellar Transformation”
only one ep left, by the way i still did not understand why it is called sword of coming when he rarely uses sword and focuses on martial arts rather than swordsmanship
